  • CBL breaks ground on The Crossings at Marshalls Creek

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- CBL & Associates Properties announced that construction has started  on The Crossings at Marshalls Creek, a 103,000-sq.-ft. shopping center development in Stroudsburg (Middle Smithfield), Pa.

    The shopping center will be anchored by Price Chopper grocery, Rite Aid, STS Tire and Auto Centers and Family Dollar and will feature approximately 22,000 sq. ft. of stores and restaurants. The grand opening is scheduled for June 2013.
     

  • Report: U.S. shopping-center industry posts healthy Q2 net income gain

    New York -- Total operating income of all shopping centers on a square-foot basis in the second quarter of 2012 rose 4.9% from the same quarter last year, while operating expenses rose by a larger 5.8%, according to a new quarterly shopping-center benchmarking report from The National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

  • Shopping center space in Europe to expand 25% in 2012

    London -- New shopping center development in Europe is expected to increase by a quarter in 2012 to meet retailer demand for modern, high quality retail space, according to the latest research by global property adviser CBRE.

    Turkey is the most active market, accounting for one-third of new space delivered in the first half of the year. This is some way ahead of Germany, with Italy and Poland just behind.

  • Mariana Antinori’s to open on Upper East Side

    New York -- Prudential Douglas Elliman's Retail Group said that Italian accessories retailer Mariana Antinori will open a luxury store – the brand’s first in New York -- at 1242 Madison Avenue, between 89th and 90th Streets.

    Nearby are Jacadi, Rachel Riley, Baby Cottons and Brooks Brothers, as well as Armani Jr., Robert Marc, Christopher Fischer Cashmere, Malia Mills and Pink Chicken 'Tween.
     

  • Henri Bendel opens at Cherry Hill Mall

    Cherry Hill, N.J. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust said that Henri Bendel has opened a 2,300-sq.-ft. store at Cherry Hill Mall, in Cherry Hill, N.J.

    Cherry Hill Mall is anchored by Nordstrom, Macy’s and J.C. Penney. Grand Lux Café recently opened its upscale restaurant concept at the mall, and Essensuals London, Pottery Barn and The North Face are all slated to open this year.
     

  • CBRE names president of central division

    Los Angeles -- CBRE Group announced that Mike Gerard has been named president of the company’s U.S. Central Division, a geographic region with more than 25 offices in nine states.

    Gerard has served as chief learning officer since early 2011, with responsibility for CBRE University, and other learning and development programs. He will continue to provide executive oversight for CBRE University. Andrea Lipton, corporate director of learning & development, has been promoted to VP and will run the university’s day-to-day operations.

  • Jones Lang LaSalle to lease/manage Centre at Glen Burnie

    Glen Burnie, Md. -- Jones Lang LaSalle said that it has been awarded the leasing and management of Centre at Glen Burnie, a 419,858-sq.-ft. retail center located in Glen Burnie, Md.

    Developed in 1963, the Centre at Glen Burnie is 85% leased and anchored by Target, Hhgregg, Office Depot, Dick's Sporting Goods and Toys R Us.  Other tenants include Chick-fil-A, FootLocker, GNC, Payless ShoeSource, Radio Shack, Five Guys, Famous Footwear and Dots.
     

  • Ann Taylor Loft to open at Colorado Mills

    Lakewood, Colo. -- Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group said that Ann Taylor Loft will open a store this fall at outlet and value shopping destination Colorado Mills, located in the Denver suburb of Lakewood.

    Loft will be located near Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, Ann Taylor Factory Outlet and Banana Republic Factory Store.
     

  • Calla Lily Salon opens at Plymouth Meeting Mall

    Plymouth Meeting, Pa. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust said that Calla Lily Salon recently opened a 1,529-sq.-ft. hair salon at Plymouth Meeting (Pa.) Mall.

    Charming Charlie opened at the mall in July.

    Plymouth Meeting Mall is anchored by Macy’s, Boscov’s, and Whole Foods Market and Café.
     

  • Five Guys opens at Streets of St. Charles

    St. Charles, Mo. -- Peoria, Ill.-based Cullinan Properties said that Five Guys Burgers and Fries has opened has opened at the Streets of St. Charles, located in St. Charles (St. Louis), Mo. – the burger brand’s first in the county.
