  • Focus on: Landlord/Tenant Partnerships

    Last June, two organizations — Retail Industry Leaders Association and International Council of Shopping Centers — co-sponsored a sustainability initiative that ultimately would set the bar for landlord/tenant partnerships.

    The last 14 months haven’t been without bumps. Forging positive, mutually beneficial programs that involve cooperation from shopping center owners and their retail tenants has long been one of this industry’s greatest — and most frustrating — challenges.

  • Cullinan names new team members

    Peoria, Ill. -- Cullinan Properties announced that Kellie Schmidt has been named corporate marketing manager for the company, charged with overseeing Cullinan’s brand presence, in addition to creating and executing marketing and communication strategies.

  • Westfield San Francisco Centre announces fashion debuts

    San Francisco -- Los Angeles-based Westfield Group said that Westfield San Francisco Centrewill welcome a lineup of new luxury retailers to the mall.

    This fall, menswear retailer Onassis Clothing will open a 2,500-sq.-ft. store. Located next to Bloomingdale’s on Level 2, the new Westfield San Francisco Centre store will be the brand’s third location and its first outside of New York.

    Burberry Brit, a casual sportswear concept, opens a standalone 2,500-sq.-ft. store selling apparel, handbags and shoes on Level 1.

  • Newly renovated AMC Theatre debuts at Chicago Ridge Mall

    Chicago -- Chattanooga, Tenn.-based CBL & Associates Properties said that a completely refreshed AMC Loews 6 Theater opens on Aug. 9 at its Chicago Ridge Mall property, located in Chicago Ridge, Ill.

    Following the opening of the newly renovated theatre are store openings over the course of the next several months. Crazy 8, Old Navy, Kids Foot Locker and Wetzel’s Pretzels are slated to open before year end, and a newly remodeled Victoria’s Secret and its new Pink boutique opened recently.

  • Save-A-Lot to open two stores in August

    St. Louis -- Discount grocer Save-A-Lot announced the openings of two grocery stores, one in Orange Park, Fla., and the other in Waveland, Miss.

    The Orange Park store opened on Aug. 2, and the Waveland store opened Aug. 5.

    Save-A-Lot Food Stores is a subsidiary of Supervalu Inc.

  • Donahue Schriber acquires three grocery-anchored centers

    Costa Mesa, Calif. -- Donahue Schriber announced the acquisition of its third grocery-anchored shopping center in the last two months. The company reported the close of escrow on Del Mar Heights Village Center in San Diego County, Calif., which follows the acquisitions of Four Corners Shopping Center in Washington State and Bonita Centre, also in San Diego County.

  • Baker Katz acquires The Heights-area property

    Houston -- Real estate brokerage Baker Katz, an X Team International partner, announced it has acquired 310 West 19th Street in The Heights neighborhood of Houston.

    The freestanding building has 4,120 sq. ft. of space and is currently occupied by Southern Dental.

  • Bon-Ton changes nameplate in two Michigan markets

    York, Pa. -- The Bon-Ton Storesannounced it will convert its Elder-Beerman nameplate in two markets in Michigan. Elder-Beerman stores in Howell and Monroe will be converted to the company’s Carson’s nameplate.

    “We are making this strategic change in nameplates as a result of a marketing review,” said Brendan Hoffman, president and CEO. “The usage of Carson’s nameplate will allow us to communicate more effectively and provide us the opportunity to expand our outreach to more consumers.”

  • Panera Bread to open at Rangeline Crossing

    Carmel, Ind. -- Indianapolis-based Kite Realty Group said that Panera Bread will open a 4,019-sq.-ft. location at Rangeline Crossing, formerly named The Centre, in Carmel, Inc.

    Old National Bank will open a 5,600-sq.-ft. outlotat the 83,533-sq.-ft. center, which is currently undergoing a redevelopment.

    The landlord is KRG Centre.

  • SRS Real Estate names new team members

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners announced two new hires in the Houston office.

    Scott Gardner and Chris Pitts have both joined the team as VPs.Both joined SRS from UCR Moody Rambin Page.
