  • Red Mango to develop stores in Central America

    Dallas -- Red Mango said Wednesday it has secured an area development agreement to expand the yogurt chain to Central America.

    El Salvador-based Nutrisal will open its first store in San Salvador next month at Plaza Santa Elena. Total unit development plans were not announced.

     

  • Ikea’s Miami-Dade store on track for summer 2014 opening

    Conshohocken, Pa. -- Ikea said Wednesday that contractors have been hired and a building permit is pending for its future Miami-Dade store in Sweetwater, Fla., putting the home furnishings retailer on track for a groundbreaking in 60 days and a summer 2014 opening date.

  • Sport Clips to make Canadian debut; plans 200 stores in 10 years

    Georgetown, Texas -- Sport Clips Haircuts announced Wednesday that it will open its first store in Canada on March 1.

    The Burlington, Ontario, franchised location is the first of three planned for the city by master franchisor Sport Clips Canada.
     
    In addition to Burlington, Sport Clips Canada currently has 26 stores under contract to open throughout Ontario and British Columbia. Sport Clips Canada said it plans to open 50 stores within the next three years, 100 stores in five years and 200 stores in 10 years.

     

  • PGA Tour Superstore to open in Irvine, Calif.

    Roswell, Ga. -- PGA Tour Superstore will open its second store on the West Coast, a 50,000-sq.ft, location in Irvine, Calif., later this year.

    "We are excited to be expanding into Southern California, which encompasses one of the nation's most renowned golf areas in the country," said PGA Tour Superstore president and CEO Dick Sullivan.

    With the addition of this store, the number of PGA Tour Superstores will increase nationwide to 17.

  • Ralph Lauren's Denim & Supply format to make U.S. debut in New York City

    New York -- Ralph Lauren Corp. will debut its Denim & Supply retail banner in the United States, opening a store in New York City this spring, according to WWD.com. It will be the first freestanding U.S. location for the brand, which features affordable price points.  

  • Saks to close Stamford, Conn., store

    New York -- Saks Inc. announced Friday that it plans to close its Saks Fifth Avenue store located in Stamford Town Center in Stamford, Conn., in early 2014.

    The shuttering is part of the department store chain’s continued right-sizing strategy. “We routinely evaluate the productivity, profitability, and potential of each of our store locations,” said Steve Sadove, CEO. “This planned closing is consistent with our strategy of utilizing our resources in our most productive Saks Fifth Avenue stores.”

  • Cabela’s to open Outpost store in Waco, Texas

    Sidney, Neb. -- Cabela’s Inc. announced plans to open a 42,000-sq.-ft. Cabela’s Outpost store in Waco, Texas.

    Construction is scheduled to begin this spring and doors are expected to open this fall. It will be the company’s fourth store in Texas, joining the Fort Worth, Buda and Allen locations.

  • Report: Apple to relocate 20 stores

    New York -- Apple Inc. will shut down 20 stores and move them to new, larger locations, according to the Los Angeles Times.

    Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, said that the company is looking to relocate the stores in order to make them larger.

    The company also will open 30 additional stores at new locations, mostly outside the United States, including its first location in Turkey.

     

  • Gander Mountain opens firearms superstore in Ohio

    New York -- Gander Mountain is giving more space to guns and related accessories at store at its store in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. The outdoors retailer has renovated the location into the Gander Mtn. Firearms Super Center.

    The redesigned Reynoldsburg store offers thousands of new and used firearms, along with broad selection of firearms accessories, specialty apparel and ammunition. It has firearms specialists on duty to give shoppers personalized service.

  • Corner Bakery Café to open 16 locations in greater New York area

    Dallas -- Corner Bakery Cafe announced plans to open 16 restaurants in six counties in the greater New York City area as part of a recent multi-unit agreement with CBCWSNY. The group of restaurant operators plans to open its first restaurant in 2013 and the remaining sites over the next six years.

    Corner Bakery Cafe opened 20 new cafes and signed another 125 cafes in 2012, raising the total to 147 open cafes and 288 cafes under development, as the company moves forward on its goal to double its U.S. footprint by the end of 2015.
